The Hawaiian Humane Society here on Oahu reported today that it is now responding to noise complaints in regard to chickens and other peafowl. Anyone have a good recipe for coq au vin?

Actually, I had this vision ruminating in my mind of HHS staff armed with butterfly nests chasing the feral chickens that occasionally wander the neighborhood....

Good luck with the chickens, and anything else.

This is what I did - get some chicken wire and make a circular enclosure, maybe 3' across. Bend the wire so there is an entrance that curves, all it takes is two 90 degree left turns, to get into the enclosure. Get some bananas (probably other fruit will work) and set one in the entrance, the other inside the enclosure. Chickens walk in, follow the two left turns, and cannot figure out how to get out, they are befuddled by the two turns they have to make to get out.

We have trapped maybe a dozen chickens that way, mostly roosters. I put them in a trash can and drive them down the road to an abandoned cane field and let them go but if you're up for it you could stew it.

I have a friend who makes a spiral of chicken wire. It gets tighter and tighter. Bait it the same way. They walk in and cannot turn around to get out.

Catch and kill rooster.
Place in a large pot.
Cover with water.
Add a large lava rock.
Boil for about a day.
Remove the rooster.
Eat the rock.

Maybe we're the only ones on this forum who actually eat feral rooster.

If you nab them young, they are indistinguishable from chicken you get from the grocery store.

Older birds.... cook low and slow.

Nope, you aren't the only ones that eat junglefowl; however, we usually cook them in an imu in my area.
