I have been researching different ways of building houses. I came accross slipforming, which basically uses natural rock and concrete. This seems very feasable with Hawaii's lava, but I haven't seen anybody doing it. Does anybody know why?

Aloha Dragonfly,
I was just discussing slipform houses a few weeks ago with someone. I'm not sure, but it it could be that a lot of the concrete structures (monolithic domes, slipform, etc) aren't done here as much due to the earthquakes. I did see a beautiful concrete home out near Pohoiki, but the roof and floor weren't concrete, just the walls with large archways along each wall. It was mammoth!
