Aloha,
Am considering relocating to Kauai and have been looking at condos in the Hanalima complex near Kauai Community College, not too far from Lihue. I have visted several with my real estate agent. I am now off island. I am wondering: 1) if they are noisy, 2) hot (I notice a lot have air conditioners) or 3) and whether you can have pets there. Mahalo! Kelena |

Maybe this response is too late, but, these condos are near our house. They are older and probably OK, but not great in my opinion. Personally, I wouldn't want to live there. There are some condos on Rice street that look nicer- much nicer in fact.
I suspect noise would be an issue. This is a high density type project, and a lot of them are rentals I think. Not vacation rentals, but rentals for locals and off-island workers who are here for some period of time to do work. Aloha, Brian |

I have a friend who lives there and says that he has neighbors next door with small children- and he hates the noise. It is a decent place to live- I wouldn't have a problem living there, personally- but I'm not really picky. The location is really convenient as well. But as the above poster said, there are other options for you.

The units in Halelani Village are basically for working / retired people. It's not a resort setting like Princeville, doesn't have a pool or tennis courts. It is a NEIGHBORHOOD. There are children & pets, which means some noise at times. Overall the people living there are friendly, the prices are reasonable. If you want complete quiet then go somewhere else. Of course there will always be the chickens no matter where you go!!
tjax1000 should limit his comments to what he knows. The oldest buildings were built in 1993 so they are at most 15 years old. By law you can not rent for less than 6 months. The board there is quite strict with noise, trash, etc. We just returned from Halelani village yesterday from getting our unit ready to sell. (We bought a house on the mainland & can't afford two) As an original owner I can tell you that they mostly are in pretty good shape, some better than others. Like any neighborhood, it all depends on the neighbors. Check out the newer listings - you may be pleasantly surprised. ![]() |
