So many people post 'moving to Hawaii' threads on here, probably more than any other place. So I'm curious. What are the reasons you have considered or toyed with the idea of moving to Hawaii, or why did you move?

I was chatting with some folks awhile back who had just moved here. They said they were escaping the zombies in Los Angeles. Guess they're safe from L.A. zombies here.

When I was deciding whether to move here for the first time, it all came down to where I'd get the most BAH. And out of the locations I had to choose from, Hawaii, especially when you count the monthly COLA, had the most generous benefits

It's the gentle trade winds blowing, the warm ocean, swaying palm trees, the endless Aloha Spirit, hula dancers on the beach with the sun setting behind them, Mai Tai, uuurrrrpppp, scuze me, in hand, while the sound of Bali Hai is playing in the background.

And all that other postcard crap......

And, the cannibals..................

Better than zombies?????? That's a judgement call

I didn't mention cannibals to the folks escaping the L.A. zombies. I figured they didn't need to know just yet.

I suspect another reason folks want to move to Hawaii is that they want to get away from where ever they are. As mentioned before about sub-zero weather, etc. Although there's less expensive places to go to get away from cold, but Hawaii is pretty high up on the desirable list of getting away from cold places.

We also have the Hawaii Visitors Bureau which spends billions (are they up to billions yet, they've been chewing through millions on a sort of routine basis for years, haven't they?) of dollars advertising Hawaii. With all that, it would be rather surprising if folks didn't want to move here.

We also have folks here on vacation. Wish I could move to Hawaii and live in a hotel and eat out in restaurants all the time while wandering around looking for fun things to do. With that as an initial experience, I'd really hope Hawaii gets put on the 'I want to live here' list.
