Default Iriquios Point

I appreciate all the info provided about racism in Hawaii, thanks for your time!!! I have done a lot of research on towns in Oahu and through my research I found Iriquios Point to be the most affordable. I was wondering if this is correct or if anyone could offer me a little more info on this area. My husbands a highschool teacher and I am a pre-school teacher, we have a 19 month old son - is this area condusive to our family??? I greatly appreciate any insight.

Last I heard, Iroquois Point was a Navy Housing Area.

Iroquois Point was military when I lived on Oahu, but has changed since then, as I understand....I was hoping to get out that far when I visited in December, but we didn't have enough time on the day we were in Ewa.

I do remember house-sitting in a beachfront house for a military family while they were on the mainland for a week...there was a lot of noise from the airplanes coming and going from HNL. If that is a concern, I would strongly suggest spending a good bit of time in the area and getting a sense of how you feel about that. The other consideration is access. Maybe things have changed on that front as well? But I think that you would still have to drive through Ewa Beach to get to/from Iroquois Point.

Well I'm sure out of date! It was converted from Navy Housing a couple of years ago, I find. Here is an article with good info on the area, but it is almost two years old:

I used to live in Iroquois Point when it was military housing. As a teen ager, I loved it. Walking distance to the beach, great weather, public bus stop nearby. The commercial flights are in fact loud. But with window A/C units, it was muffled. The traffic may be an issue now getting thru Ewa Beach, it has been years since I was there.
Check out this website about how the area is now, IROQUOISPOINTISLANDCLUB.COM
Also, if your husband teaches high-school, James Campbell High (class of '79) is just down the street in Ewa Beach, (you pass it to get to Iroqouis Point). And there is an elementary school in Iroquois Point.
One last note, at the lagoon in Iroquois Point, there used to be a shuttle boat that took people over to Pearl Harbor. Not sure if that is still in use, but it cuts down on driving.

Yep, total conversion ... and yep, nice spot.

But, uh oh! The commute to town! OMG!

Then again, yep, real nice spot

we have friends that live there and it's a nice area. if you work in town though, traffic is kind of a nightmare. i'm moving in 3 weeks and was considering this area to live due to its beach access and affordability but the commute was a deterrent for me.

There is a boat to take you to downtown, but it leaves from Kalaeloa.
