Yes, we have housing projects and some Section 8 housing. The most
well-known housing projects are:

- Mayor Wright Housing (Palama/Kalihi neighborhood of Honolulu)
- Kuhio Park Terrance (aka KPT) (Kalihi, Honolulu)
- Palolo Valley Homes (Palolo, Honolulu)
- Kamehameha IV Housing (Kalihi, Honolulu).

Notable high concentrations of Section 8 buildings:

- Aniani St. (western side of Waipahu)
- Pupu Streets (western side of Waipahu)
- Ohai Street (Wahiawa)

There are other housing projects and other areas with modest concentrations of section 8 renters, but these are the ones that first come to mind. Keep in mind that Honolulu (and all of Hawaii) is quite safe and most violent crime is rare and NOT random. There are very few places I would feel unsafe walking around at any hour of the day or night.
