We are going over to look at property on the Big Island and will look into June as a move date.

That is great about your home, I am sure the days are just dragging by waiting! I am excited for you and hope everything goes to your plans.

Congratulations!

I am right behind you Seeetbeet! My house here in NY officially goes on the market in about four weeks and than it's just a matter of waiting for it to sell. The market is still good in my village/area, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it sells quickly (and we are pricing it to sell), so we hope to be off to Maui by the end of the summer latest! We have a real estate agent in Maui that is working with us to get us a rental and than a house so we are totally excited. Clearing out the house and putting everything in order for sale is not bothering us in the least, because it's bringing us one step closer to our dream. I'm having my first "moving" sale in a few weeks, so things are finally moving along.

Frangi, that's great! I would love to DM you about our experiences buying a home in Kauai and other stuff, but you don't have DM. So DM me if you want to chat more with a fellow NYer headed for the land of aloha. We are packing and tossing right now, I just put my home up on Craigs List, I'm going to try and sell it myself and see if that works. If not I've got a realtor lined up (and a contractor to do some brush-up work on the kitchen), and it'll go on the MLS in April or early May. If we don't get under contract by the time we leave in July it'll be a drag, but we'll deal.

I have a job lined up (well, sort of a cross between a job and a business opportunity), my son is signed up for Island School, and we're going to be putting our kitties on the plane in Newark in mid-July then heading cross-country in our Prius (which we will put on a boat in San Francisco and then say bye bye to the mainland for a good long time!). I can't believe it's actually happening.

I'm so thrilled for you!

Yes, that is a very very good idea. I have to figure out to DM you and I look forward to reading about your experiences. I have three cats to get over there.

Thanks a million
