I could worry less about the,,, uuuurrrrrpppp, scuze me, cannibals. As it is, all I have is smack packs of A1 sauce to throw the always hungry, never sated, live meat eating cannibals off the scent. And tourists HATE being smacked on the back with a packet of A1

I am guessing not since Hawaii, like California, is a complete anti-gun state.
I'm out and about every day working in the field with the mentally ill and active drug users. I've had angry people scream at me, threatened me, and one drunk woman threw an object (which I somehow caught, but that's a different story). I know multiple women at my old and new jobs who go out and deal with this same population and none of us feel scared enough to carry a firearm.

If I were you, I'd honestly question why you, as a man, need a firearm while you're sitting in your car with the windows up while small women are out there dealing with aggressive folks face to face armed with nothing but CPI and confidence.

Yeah, it can get crazy out there, but I knew what I was signing up for. Of course, it's not always like that. I've also been handed babies to play with, given modest gifts of banana lumpia of homemade chocolate, and had a few people cry in my arms and then thank me for letting them do so. For the angry people, it's just about having confidence and a cool head - two things I think are very underrated and underappreciated in the greater culture at large.

Enyo, I am assuming you are in Social Services..
As a Senior County Investigator, we were often asked to escort County Welfare Workers, and Child Protective Services in the field doing home visits, especially if A Protective Services worker had to remove a child from a home due to neglect or abuse.
The parent would be screaming.. You ain't gonna Repossess my kid!' and often times woukd be very hostile and belligerent.

I empathize and admire you, Enyo, it takes a special person to do what you do.

OP..there is absolutely NO reason for you to bring a firearm to Oahu..unless you are are some kind of 'cowboy gunslinger'..Oahu sure isn't the 'Wild West' :~}

Sounds like you are almost hoping someone will hassle you so you can wave your gun in their face..IDK.

I was required to have my carry concealed sidearm with me in my home state while off duty, but NEVER took it to any other State or country unless I was camping or fishing in the Wilderness somewhere.

I do keep a sidearm at my place in Puerto Rico for home protection, but I don't take it out of the home..
why ask for/invite trouble?

I used to work at Kalihi Palama Mental Health, and then I worked with homeless people doing outreach, employment, and housing assistance. My badges clearly stated what organizations I worked for, so potential clients were pretty relaxed with me because they knew I was just out offering optional services. The angry people were either in the throes of psychosis and/or drug-fueled behavior. Still, I never felt scared. Just super aware of what was going on.

OP, know why Hawaii has the lowest rate of gun violence in the nation? Because ...
i crack up at some of your guys' response to my original posting.

You tell me use common sense when driving. But let me tell you, crazy mokes have a very hot temper and like to get out of their car to punch you in the face. Yes, it's a felony crime, as it's UEMV, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. But these ghetto mokes don't care. Free food, free TV awaits them in OCCC, or Halawa.

My point is that there should be laws in Hawaii to allow people to protect themselves.

Let me post a nice YouTube video of the kind of ghetto moke violent action that I have witness while living in Hawaii.

https://youtu.be/H6dk9gxTfPw

This crazy lady, typical low-class moke, assaults a driver in the parking lot at some kind of parking lot in Honolulu area.

While the wahine looks like a mahu man, this kind of violence seems to be tolerated in the nei. Unfortunately, more of these violence can be decreased if people are allowed to carry a gun to protect him or herself.

Well, good for your politically correct response. But I'm not talking about just crazy homeless people you deal with.

I'm talking about incidence where big moke guys like to assault people, especially in road rage incidents, in Hawaii, mainly on Oahu.

If somebody walks up to my vehicle and tries to punch me through the window, I will make sure Kapena or Kekoa is looking down the barrel of my glock before he throws a punch at me. No?

As a firearms instructor, what you've typed is an indicator that you may not have the right mental state to carry. If you think/plan out way to use a weapon, that's an indicator of something wrong. The goal is to A) stay OUT of bad situations (and road rage is among the most simple to avoid, stop/pull over when someone else does something stupid ~ they will continue on *IF* you don't react to their bait/are also raging), and B) make it your whole life only drawing your weapon in training.
Brian, you're cracking me up brah. What does asking a question of whether an out-of-state conceal weapon is valid in Hawaii, has to do with one's mental state?

You are just like a lot of the hippies posting their PC responses here.

Easy said than done when you say stay out of bad situation. Let's say kekoa driving his large wheel truck cuts you off, and you honk your horn. Do you think moke Kekoa is going to simply ignore you? No. He will probably flip the bird at you, and even follow you on the road to your home.

I don't know what kind of instructor you are. But it sure makes common sense (a lot of Hawaii folks lack this, and I'm a former kama'aina) to protect oneself from crazy violent people in the nei. No?

I can imagine Jungjohann, telemutt, and Brian-M thinking otherwise changing their position of self protection if this moke got out of his truck to assault you.

Watch this video. Only in the nei. LoL!
