Do you have an inside scoop on lava zones (real and current) and how threatened various areas could be?
I love Fern Forest area and wondered if that has any impending lava threat in the reasonable future (like within 20 years) ?

Fern Forest is in lava zone 3 , the same as Hilo town .
Percentage of area covered by lava since 1800 : 1% - 5%

Whether you are speaking of living arrangements or entertainment, ride the bus...get you a month pass ride everywhere until you want to get a closer look! At most the passis 45 or 50 dollars. I think it was 40 when I was there Oct. Nov. 2--7: go to foodland grocer or other groceries or stores that sell it..and ride! It takes you far out west and east and runs all night.

I'm moving to Oahu in the Spring, have job in downtown Honolulu.
Where is a good place to live if I want to surf on the North shore as often as possible?
I understand the commute from the NS to Honolulu is really bad/impossible, true? Is the west side a possibility? Or, is it best to live in or near Honolulu?
Thanks!
Alex
