Default Moving to Hawaii (Hopefully!!)

Hello,
I have had the great privilege of interviewing for a position with a hospital in
Honolulu. I have begun researching the area for housing and my options for housing. I am constantly being warned about the high cost of living in Hawaii. I realize this of course, cost of living runs high in different areas all over the country. There must be reasonable housing there because not everyone who lives there is wealthy. I only need one bedroom or a studio, there is only me. Are there any real estate agents that deal with rentals? I appreciate any input.
Mahalo

I am not a real estate agent.

If you will tell us which hospital, we can give you a better idea of the neighborhoods you might look in.

When I help people look for rentals, I use Craigslist:

oahu apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist

When I was working on Oahu I had a condo at the Craigside on Nuuanu Avenue, great views, close to everything downtown, and the rent was pretty reasonable. You may want to check them out....Best of luck!

Aloha

Kuakini is very close to downtown, but also close to some pretty poor areas and industrial areas, like Palama, Iwilei. Kakaako, and lower Liliha. If you want to be really close to work, I would look up the valleys to the northeast of the hospital, by putting these districts into Craigslist, and then checking the map.
