Default Moving to Hawaii

hi everyone!! My husband, my son and I (well, mostly my husband and I since my son is only two...) would like to move to Hawaii for a while... Would anyone be able to give me tips on where to live? We'd like a place that's not too expansive, and we don't mind being far from everything... The only thing is that we'd need a job too... Any tips?? We'd also love to meet new people before moving there, even just virtually, to really get the feel of things from the point of view of somebody that already lives there... So if anybody wants to meet some Swiss, you're welcome to!!
Thanks a lot!!

Not to put too fine a point on it, but -- um -- Hawaii IS far from everything. I know what you mean, I think, but it will only help so much with real estate. Each of the islands really has its own personality, and I'd recommend doing a fair amount of research based on what you might do for work and what you like to do (hobbies, sports, hiking, arts, etc.) before you throw a dart at the map. Your budget will likely dictate where you end up on whichever island you choose, but they are all quite different, believe it or not.

You will likely "meet some Swiss" here, too. We have neighbors on our street who are from Germany and Austria (two different households). A good restaurateur friend is French, and surely there are some Swiss here on Maui somewhere.
