Question Buying A Car On Oahu?!?!

Okay sooo I'm moving to Oahu for school in August and I want to buy a USED car. Would it be best to look around on the island at dealerships & etc for a used car or best to check out craigslist? I'm a very picky shopper & educated on my cars too. I've looked around a little bit on craigslist & no cars have come to my liking =/

A little feedback will go a long way
Thanks!

the cars at the dealership will be a little more expensive, i have found craigslist very useful. you can also check out the classified adds from the local newspapers online.

stay away from dealerships. i have noticed they rip you of something crucial. about 20% to 30% more then if you bout the car in CA. not a big deal if ur buyin a 5000 dallor car.. but if ur going to spend more then that. id stay away from dealers. you mite find a military guy sellin his car cause he is moving or being deployed or what have you. or u if you plan to spend 20k plus. you can buy it in cali and ship it over for 1000 dallors. thats what i will be doing in a few months. just an FYI your on an island... so u cant be to picky. sometimes u have to settle for something less cool.. or u have to fork out some real dough

hope this could be of some kinda use

=)

take care

Haha thank you for both of your responses! I checked out the classifieds on Honolulu Advertiser, that was a good help. . . as was Island Previews - Listings & Reviews Of Fine Island Products! GREAT site! I'm also looking at a bike (motorcycle) vs a car. . . I don't really want to spend over 5k on a used car though. . . Idk. I still have a couple months so we'll see! =)
