Question WHITE Racism!!!!

I find it funny when white people have to deal with racial inequality they cry. Like literally streams of tears run from there faces. Just about everyone deals with racism every day. Black, Hispanics, Asians, Middle Easterners, and Indians. But when it happens to a white person. Its like some new phenomenon, and is un fair and makes a place horrible. Just from a sociological perspective its fascinating. I’m white. Irish and German. I have Green eyes and pail skin. I live in Hawaii. On the west side of Oahu. I haven’t really been affected by any racism. I believe this hasn’t happened for me for two very specific reasons. I have never had a predetermined view of a situation involving race. IE walk into a store filled with local Kine, and automatically assume they all hate me cause im white. And all wana yell haole. Two, I am open minded and understanding of cultures not my own. I try to learn and be accepting of new cultures. I am not sure why I haven’t felt the racial prosecution of all these other whitys on this forum. I have lived in Maili and Makaha. I am moving back to Maili to be closer to Maili beach park and just in general like the area. I enjoy diving and fishing and BbQen em up.
Perhaps is my understanding of “Hawaiian Racism” its not like racism on the mainland. Racism on the main land is malice. In Hawaii (from what I understand please correct me if I am wrong) racism is humorous examples of how we as races are all so different. There is no argueing that the Hawaiian islands are very diverse racially speaking. Perhaps this melting pot of races and close proximity created the bi-product “Hawaiian Racism”

any locals with any ideas on my paradox?

I'm no local, I have no ideas, I just wish others would read this and try to understand before beating the subject to death in other threads. My opinion though is that a lot of people that come to Hawaii are too self absorbed and stuck in their ways to accept a change. If someone is so scared of a racist remark then stay on ur resort area or home, or get over it and take what life gives you ... Just my opinion

I wouldn't call the black eye and swollen face of my son's friend "humorous". All this guy did was dare to walk in the wrong area of a public parking lot near the Tahiti Nui in Hanalei on Kauai. A group of locals (who, rumor has it, are family of local officials) sit in wait for the unknowing, physically attacking anyone who walks on the part of the parking lot that they claim as their own. No one has the balls to speak up as witnesses. Not only is this racism, it's also institutionalized bullying since law enforcement knows their identity but does nothing to stop it.

Not saying there is nothing wrong with that, but stuff like that is everwere. If you walk around on the north side of Milwaukee with gold and yellow and your hat tipped to the left u will get jummped. If u are a white girl and walk around there with a coach purse and ur iPod on u will get robbed. If u leave your car unlocked on the southside 80% sure when u come back it will be missing anything valuable. I could go on longer but u get the idea. Even in a good private school, first grade someone stole my favorite pencil, I told the boy that sat next to me and he beat up the kid that did it. Stuff like that isnt just in Hawaii I acctually think they have the least vionlent crime out of most other states. Sorry it happned to ur friends kid, not saying u shouldn't care its just the majority of people in Hawaii don't mean any harm to you by a racist remark

And people say West Virginians are racist? I feel very comfortable walking in any part of our valley, approaching any person or group of people of any race or age, and not fear for my safety. My kids have friends who are white, black, Asian and Palestinian. One of my very best friends, now passed away, was Arabian.

Besides, the incident I described involved adults, well over the age of 21, not kids. I don't care where else these things happen, it's still wrong. If it happens in my community, I'll speak out. Loudly. I think what appalls me most of all is that excuses are made when it happens in Hawaii. If I have no problem stating unequivocally that skinheads and KKK and other white racists are wrong NO MATTER WHAT then I expect others to state the same when racism comes from Hawaiians or blacks or whomever.

I'm still waiting for all GOOD people to stand together to denounce this behavior, no matter from where it comes or to whom it is directed.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You completely proved my point… racism happened in every state in the usa. Black people still get dragged behind trucks in the south. Mexicans still get shot Texas. But any racial injustice to white people and BAAAAAAAAAM racial in equality and its WRONG and BLAH BLAH BLAH. Welcome to the REAL word. How does it feel to be on the other side of the fence. I think it’s a humbling learning experience for us WHITE FOLK

If a white person responds as you do to racism directed toward blacks or Hispanics or whomever, they are lambasted and denounced. You, too, ought to be lambasted and denounced. The "how do you like it now" attitude does nothing to bring people together. I'd bet my bottom dollar that Martin Luther King Jr. would rather all of us denounce all racism than any of us relish the "turnabout is fair play" mentality that you exhibit.

Your attitude perpetrates racism just as much as the attitude of any KKK member or skinhead. You are no different.
