oneblessedmommy, please dont look down at people who dont practice the "natural" ways of life. dont think you are smarter then them. this is ignorant. I was not vaccinated, because my mom was one of those natural moms, and was agains vaccinations. As a result, I got measels when i was a teenager which nearly killed me, i had serious complications. later on, I got infected with Hepatitis B. Not much fun, let me tell you. I'd rather be vaccinated. You child may not thank you for what you did later in life. Vaccinations are not evil-they are saving millions of lives.
Hepatitis B is highly contagious, and there is no treatment, think about it, you are exposing your child to deadly viruses, it is ignorant, not smart.

oneblessedmom,
let me tell you that these idiots do not represent Hawaii.....

I have been nursing babies for 15 years in public and never once has anyone said a thing to me......except good job Mama......

I think you'll be fine....

Breastfeeding has gotten much more commonplace here.....I don't see as many local ladies giving their babies koolaid and crap in bottles......

There is a lot of breastfeeding promotion...at least on Maui!

Aloha

Default Natural Way of Life?

They will argue that formula is the same thing as breastmilk and it doesn't matter what type of foods you eat, weather its GM or not ... Ill be happy when I can just grow my own food
I'm assuming you are going to live out in the open or perhaps in a tent if you are promoting the natural way of life? What's that supposed to mean? Nature can be a scary and unknown thing. And if Global Warming means the one degree increase in temp. in the next hundred years, don't think you have too much to worry about.

As far as breastfeeding in Hawaii or any state of the Union, cover yourself up when you feed your baby, distance yourself from people who may be offended, and enjoy taking care of your child. I fed my first baby in restaurants, up to five months of age, with no one the wiser. After a certain age, it's better to use some modesty when feeding. It's simply common sense. We're not in this world alone. All sorts of people live in Hawaii, and they all have their own opinions, just like everyone else in this country.

Enjoy Hawaii. I lived there four years with my husband when he was in the Marine Corps. It is beautiful and magical at times. You'll love the geckos...they live right there with you in your...um...natural settings or your house.

first I want to say thank you for all the positive feedback, to those of you who respected my decision to raise my child the way I feel, in my heart is right.
To those who were concerned about my son being vaccinated, I never posted that I won't do the vaccines. I simply do delayed and secected vacc. I will have him fully vacc. (up to his age) by the time he is enrolled in school. I did not start his vacc. untill I was done breastfeeding him. Also you don't need to be concerned about us being another homless family living in a tent, we live in doors. I said I prefer the natural way of living, not homeless living, or cave man living. Iam curently a CNA, studying become a MA than nurse, iam not ignorant about the things that could happen in the world of health. Hmmmm... Global warming, just because it wont affect me directly doesnt mean it wont affect other people in the years to come and animals living in the artic like polar bears and so on. Just because somthing doesnt hurt me directly doesnt mean it doesnt bring my concern. There is poverty in other counties, but should we not try to help because it doesnt cause us harm? Or because we cannot fix the problem in our lifetime? No, I still do what i can to help. one of the previous posters were right about one thing, I won't mind the geckos they eat the spiders
