I Actually Love Oahu
[SIZE=2][SIZE=2]I made a list of Ten solid things I LOVE about Oahu
- The Culture. This is number one in my eyes. So many things have happened in the USA in the last 300 years. That have changed American society for every. it’s a society I know and love. When I came to Hawaii around a year ago. I was shoooooooooocked at the little differences here. But I love then so much I do not have words to explain it.
- The People. Hawaiians, transplants, what ever, have al been incredible good to me. Have welcomed me with open arms with a long embrace at then end. There nice. There companionate there god dam funny. And most importantly there all about family.
- Aloha Spirit. I have thought many nights about what aloha spirit is. And how to describe it. But I cant put it into words very well but what I have come up with is it’s the realizations of karma. And the desire to be good to fellow man threw positive energy.
- The Drivers. I love em. There chill.. No road rage. I used to get cut off in CA. it would ruin my day. I get cut off out here.. Guys throws his hand out the window. To me this means “brah I know I jus cut u off. But I need to get out of that dam parking lot ASAP.” and it makes it all okay. it’s a phenomenon of have noticed exclusively in Hawaii. Simply recognizing u just Fu**ed someone in traffic. And it makes is all ok.
- The Music. Music is a very important part of my life. I believe music has mind over matter powers and can change people. When you crack Hawaiian music u cant help but drive a little slower… relax and smile. I bet people on Oahu as a whole have a lot lower blood pressure then any other state in the usa.
- The Beaches. Yokes. Breath taking. Enough said.
- The women. I know some of u locals might have dropped an eye brow reading that. But I love Hawaiian women. I love the mentality. I love there nature. And there just incredibly beautiful. I have already decided I want to marry a local girl who comes from a huge family. I know for some locals this may be an issue. And I understand were you are coming from.
- The Life Style. Just chill bra… cant beat it. My boss doesn’t breath down my neck all day. My neibors don’t complain when I am pounding music and BBQ’n in my front yard. Instead they bring a cd and some meat over. If you tried that were I come from in CA you’d end up on the news. (missing or dead)
- Racism. that’s right racism. Everyone one in the USA puts so much on race. Only dividend us into more groups. Who gives a darn about race. I don’t. stop dividing us. Stop putting us in groups. Instead make jokes.. Laugh. enjoy our differences together not make groups and folders to put us in.
- I have to put beaches down twice. Cause. I just love them so much. Every weekend every single weekend Maili Beach park always has some family party going on. Hawaiians utilize there beaches. For family events. Parties. And so many things. I love it. I drive by Maili beach park and a smile.
I hope u like my list. Please add or change anything. I want to get some opions and ideas of people who actually like Hawaii. If your going to post a negative response. Please don’t. not here. I thank you for respecting my wishes in that regard

I just pray we can finally move there in about two years. my husband is a Marine, he's been in over 21 years and after spending a week on Oahu (although we understand it won't be a permanent vacation--gotta pay the bills) we were both renewed. Our spirit, our marriage, everything. the people are just amazing...the golden rule personified.

I was raised on Oahu
for 14 years, until a move to California in 1973
I miss all the Cosmopolitan style living and Hawaiian food
I know I can never go back psychologically , because so much is changed
I haven't been back for 15 years . I'm sure a lot has changed.
I remember going to the airport . when it was just two lanes
and the planes had propellers LOL!!
I like California, very much , but do plan to go back . once my project
is completed . here in the foothills,
Aloha,

I've been here just over a week, and I agree so far. Other things I love:
City life. It's laid back, yeah. But Honolulu is a real city. Good public transportation. Hustle & bustle. Lots to do. Museums. Libraries. Concerts. I love it all.
The food. I haven't had a bad meal yet (except one or two that I cooked!). I love all the different types of restaurants. I just moved from LA, so I've been putting off trying some Mexican, but I'm going to do that next.
