So what's the weather really like in Hilo? When I look on the internet, it shows rain every day! It may rain evey day, but its not rainy and overcast all day is it? I know its not Kona, but the sun must shine in Hilo at least some of the time, doesn't it?

Some days it rains all day, but mostly it's partly sunny with small showers here and there, sometimes just a few hundred feet across, dry in between.

It has actually been quite dry and sunny here lately. A short shower today, but we haven't been having the day-long or two-to-three day long rains that sometimes are to be experienced.

How often are these?

In the "old days" I would have said fairly common.
Lately, it has seemed much less often. We are very thankful that it is raining today. It has been a while since I have used my umbrella! |
