Default snow in hawaii today.

today on the big island of hawaii we got a dusting of snow on mauna kea.

No, not unusual. Snow is a regular occurance on Mauna Kea & Mauna Loa during the winter months.

We will be staying in Hilo the week of Oct 4. What do you think, will we have any chance of seeing snow up high? My girlfriend can not believe that we need to bring some warm clothing. Looking forward to finally being back on the islands. Aloha

Probably not. First snowfall is usually around Thanksgiving, last snow in March.
