Default Suggestions wanted for simple Maui elopement

Hello Everyone,
I am in the early stages of planning a simple Maui wedding for January, 2009. Since all I really want is an officiant/witness and photos/video, I am thinking that the package deals that I have found online are not the way to go. I would love suggestions on everything from good beach locations to references!! Thanks in advance :-)

Default Kauai

I don't have any experience on Maui, other than vacations. We were married on Kauai and used Mohala Wedding Services. Pastor Jim Clark and his wife Jona performed a simple ceremony on the beach at sunset. Jona sang and Robert played ukelele. They provided the leis, and recorded the voices. We used a camcorder on a tripod. It was inexpensive (I think around $300) and beautiful.

I eloped in Maui in March. No guests, simple ceremony. At that time, I was living in Alaska and planned everything over the internet. I used this photographer who is great www.gordonnash.com. A good photographer was very important to me and this guy did not disappoint. I did not use the coordination services since I could arrange easily by myself without having to pay the fee. I looked at gordon nash's online portfolio and recognized some of the officiants they used after searching online for officiants. I emailed a few to find costs which was very simple. I choose Rev. Vance Rosete who was great for $300. I asked the photography business for some names of hairstylists they used and I arranged that myself. I used Maui Blooms for my bouquet. We got married at Makena Cove which is very popular for small weddings. If you look at gordon's website, you will see photos of other sites.

i got married by Jeffrey T. Bond! His team was the best!
I did not have to worry about anything except showing up in my wedding dress! Good luck!

I highly recommend Photographics Maui. Great photographers; they provide so much more than the standard wedding shots. They really know how to direct the subjects so that the photos are full of life and love and fun.

As of just recently, you now have to have a permit to get married on a beach. Your wedding contacts here can help you with that, or call Maui County.

Big Beach in South Maui is used a lot for weddings, because of the gorgeous scenery and you can get photos with no people or structures in the background.
