Default HDTV provider in Maui

I've just moved to Maui and I'm looking for HDTV service here. A dish rep told me they don't have service on Maui however I see them advertised here so I don't believe he knew what he was talking about. I'm trying to decide whether to go with Time Warner Cable or a satellite and wondered if anyone had expierence with either they'd like to comment on.

We have T-W/Oceanic cable. No unusual problems for 7 years.

The service goes out once in a while, but everything is a little sketchier here than on the mainland. Some of the hotels have satellite TV, so they're definitely around. No satellite radio, though.

You Can Get Direct Tv On Maui.... It Takes A Bigger Dish Than The Small 18 Inch Ones In The Mainland... Its About 3 Ft Wide... Call Them To Find Out... The Problem Is You Have To Be Facing South East... And Alot Of Condos And Apts Won't Let You Put Big Dishes Like That On Them.... I WENT WITH TIME WARNER AND THEY HAVE A GREAT HDTV BOX WITH A DVR AND JUST GET THE EXTRA HD CHANNELS.... ITS NOT MUCH MORE.... BUT THERE IS ALOT OF FREE CHANNELS TOO. ALSO GET A HDMI CABLE FOR YOUR TV TO THE BOX IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE YOU CAN GET THEM AT WALMART FOR UNDER $30
Hope This Helps

Smile Thanks for the info

We went with Oceanic for simplicities sake for now. We would like to go with Direct TV eventually as their HDDVR is a lot better than cable. We're in a house and my next door neighbor has direct tv but we have to get HOA approval on all dishes. Time Warner Oceanic was quick to install (5 days from the time I called them and the technician was very good. We did a bundle with HDTV and phones.
