Does anyone have any experiences with the UPS store? I like the fact that you can get mail delivered to an individual location and have boxes sent there and they will hold and than deliver them directly to you. I plan on having several boxes sent via air (rather than container) - with clothes, valuables, etc. Also I want to have my mail forwarded there until We get settled in a place.
Thanks for any infro you can provide. |

As far as I know, there is only one UPS store on Maui -- at Kaanapali. There are Mail Boxes Etc. stores in Kahului and Kihei that are part of the same franchising organization, but each is individually owned and operated. We've had so-so customer service at the Kaanapali store, but overall excellent UPS (delivery) service.
One thing we found out about shipping from the east coast is that there are frequently "small type" disclaimers for Hawaii deliveries. That means that FedEx "overnight" is actually two days later, and the drop-off times going back to the mainland are much earlier. It's no big deal -- once you get used to the idea -- but it can be quite shocking if you have a rather precise notion of how these things "should" work. In general, about your shipping and orchestrating, I'd say be prepared for possible delays. We've had very good luck -- and everything has arrived just fine -- just not necessarily when "promised." It's much more laid-back here and there are a lot of hoops to jump through for freight, so sometimes the hoops aren't jumped for your convenience or peace-of-mind. E komo mai! |
