Default Oahu?

This is my first post although I have been doing a lot of reading on this forum trying to get as much information as I can in regards to moving to Hawaii. I have found a great variety of information here and I am aware of the cost living, food, housing, etc. Although, I am more confused than ever as to where would be the best place for me in Hawaii. I have found so much information about families with small children but it does not relate to me.

I hope someone can give some advice on where would be a good place to live in Hawaii. I will be moving in about 5 years (I like to plan ahead, lol) after my children are done with school. I am currently going to school to be an RN. I will be done in two years and will work in the mainland for about 3 years before I move so I will not be entry level. I do not want to buy a home. I want to rent. I like the convenience of living in the city. I would prefer to walk and take public transit although I would have a car for when it is needed. Yes my children will be coming with me but will be attending college and they will possibly live on campus or with me. My daughter wants to study Marine Biology. So I am thinking Oahu. My son is still undecided.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Here is the UH program in Marine Biology

Marine Biology BS degree at University of Hawaii

There is a unique facility for marine science on an island in Kaneohe Bay:

Here's a map of Oahu showing where the island is in relation to the main campus at Manoa:

Default Thank you

Thanks for the great links. I am currently looking for a location in between Kaiser and the University. This does narrow it down for me. I am looking into Manoa, Pacific Heights and Makiki Heights. Any thoughts? We would like to vacation in Hawaii sometime next year so we can check everthing out. Thanks again.
