$60K will allow you to live comfortably in Maui, since you are single. Just don't expect to get a nice house in Kihei, Wailea, Kaanapali etc. Maybe in Kahului or Wailuku. My family loves Maui the best of all the islands, and after I retire in about 8 years we are considering a move there.

Default Please, please, please!

If you don't know about the Dept. of Agriculture's rules regarding bringing your dog, please start now to meet all the requirements so your dog doesn't have to be quarantined. There's a lot of information posted -- use the Search feature at the top of the page if you need a refresher. It takes a while, but it's in the best interest of your dog and the islands.

To make the $60K a year, is this a job you will be bringing with you or are you anticipating getting a similar job to a $60K one that you have on the mainland?

Well, that's a hopeful sign! I have heard of employers not coming through with what they've promised, though, so be careful and keep a plan "B" as well as plan "C" in mind.
