hermandie is on a distinguished road
Default 1st post!

Hello everyone. My name is Herman and my girlfriend's name is Mandie hence the username. We are currently living in sunny So. Cal but are planning to move to the beautiful island of Maui next summer. She is a licensed cosmetologist and I have a degree in Marketing. My first question is what is better to do first, look for a job or look for a place to live? I've been on many job websites and have not really found anything that both interest me and pertain to my education. Any suggestions? My girlfriend on the other hand would like to work at a big hotel spa. Will she make more at a smaller local spa or at a hotel resort spa? Next, I would like to live in either central Maui because it is close to things like Walmart and Costco but west Maui would be nice because of the beaches. Any suggestions on locations that will not break the bank but are still in a nice neighborhood? Finally for now, I don't think they have an Ikea and I really like their furniture because it is not expensive and still looks nice. Should we bring our bedroom set or is there a comparable store and Mandie has a car that is paid off and I was just planning on bringing my motorcyle. How long would I be able to last using that as transportation? I'm sorry for all the questions but any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Aloha hermandie!
I would recommend to start from using "Search" function on this site. It works well. You will find answers for most of you questions, very fast.

I dunno if many of the hotels will be hiring for awhile since tourism is down by rather a lot right now. Maybe it will have recovered by next summer though.

If you have a choice of which first, the job would be more important since they are harder to find than housing. If you know where your job will be then you can find housing nearby. No need to spend all your time getting to and from work when there are better things to do. Also a two mile commute on a motorcycle in the rain to work is a lot different than a twenty mile commute to work in the rain on a motorcycle.
