2 Funny stories.........
So as some of you may know or not My better half Christine and I are set to move to Oahu this OCT 21st with are 1 way tickets. Chris will be going back to school I will be working for Hawaii Organ Donor Center as a Transplant Coor. Ok with all that garble said, I decide one night after drinking 1 or 6 that I needed a Ukelele I mean come on they show all these kids playing them surely I could learn.........Or could I? So it ships from where you may ask, Kaneohe were we are looking at moving.......great use of shipping huh! And well now I can only describe my playing skills to be that far behind the 5 yr old savants they show playing on there infomercial....
Now for funny story number 2, we know moving there money will no longer be, buy what u want when you want it so thought we would try some local food say SPAM ok here we go is that dog food? That my friends can only taste good fried up while ur so drunk you may think its salty steak did I mention salty.......wow So as it stands for now, I am no longer allowed to make any Pre Hawaii purchases in the name of exploration............haha But figured we had such a good laugh that it needed to be shared with all!!!!!!!!!

Spam musubi is found at the 7-11 stores. Fry a slab of spam, put it on sushi spiced rice and wrap some seaweed around it. It's kinda tasty. You'll get a chance to buy it once you get to Kaneohe. There will be lots of interesting things for you to try once you get to Kaneohe.

Too funny!
As hotcatz mentioned, you need to fry the Spam first. Yes, it's fully cooked in the can, but that's sort of like Portuguese sausage - fully cooked but better hot & grilled. With Spam, slice it up in just over .25" thick long slices. Heat a pan, fry it up w/no oil until the surface is a little browned & crispy. Then you eat it with something else. Like rice, or scrambled in eggs. Eating several slices by itself is awfully salty and oily.

Please, don't get me started on Spam. I posted something over here a while back concerning Spam recipes, as I recall, it was pretty funny. I think Hawaii consumes more Spam per capita than any other state. Go figur?

Ah I can see it now, heading to the beach with my not so great ukelele playing capabilities, eating fried spam, and getting stink eye from the locals who of course will be pushing meth on me........The sweet sweet life in Paradise.........of course Im only joking! But on a serious note watching out for cannibalism........

By the way, you won't be the only one with questionable ukulele talents. My neighbors, native Hawaiians, sometimes have family BBQs and pull out their ukuleles and sing. Of the entire clan, so far only ONE person really has a good voice. And all of them only know a few chords and their strumming/fingerwork is a long way from professional. But darned if they don't have heart & soul in the song, and it's a pleasant evening sharing food & drink & song.
Just be sure to pronounce it OO-KOO-LE-LE not YOU-KA-LAY-LEE and you will get instant respect!
