DOA in Hawaii tells me that Maui does not have a direct release (5-day–or-less quarantine program) set up as this time, they are working on getting it up and running.
Kona and Lihue do have stations setup along with Honolulu. So, if you are heading to Maui, you would have to go thru 1 of these 3 stations.

I'm checking with DOA in Hawaii now regarding the release station in Kahalui.
We would be interested with anyone who would want to share an open leg private jet to Hawaii. We have a home there already (Maui) and would be coming from Boston. The obvious jump point would be from California to the islands for a jet returning.

with how many people would you like to share the aircraft? what kind of aircraft you got?

I am definately interested in pitching in on a plane, if it will truly be that price, in about a year would work for me, if not sooner. I am needing to go to Kona though, and they have the direct release program up and running as far as I know. If we can get enough people to pitch in... we definately have enough time...

I am VERY interested in pitching in on a private flight. it would have to be that price though, i can not afford much more...
when exactly are you looking to go?
pets HAVE to go in at OAHU, from there you can get the direct release if you have everything in order...
they also have a 5 day or less, don't know what that's about, but i'm not doing it anyway.
i am very serious about this, and i am willing to start advertising for people who want to pitch in.
let me know what to do. what will you do if you don't get enough people to pitch in?
i need to make DEFINATE plans.

unfortunately, no airline will let you take your pet in cabin going TO hawaii, only FROM it. doesn't matter the size of animal. with inspection/quarantine laws so strict, i'm sure they wouldn't risk letting people having the opportunity to slip out of the airport, bypassing the inspection station. i did extensive research on this last fall (calling every airline that goes to hawaii from cali. and calling again to make sure the answer was consisent).
a private jet or boat is the best bet for any size pet and i too would love to take my 2 cats and turtle on it

Home - Dog Travel & Adventure Co. (broken link)
It's too bad that this place does not have any routes to Hawaii. They let you take your dog in the cabin. Maybe if enough people request it...
