In general, mail delivery in HPP is via streetside "cluster boxes"; however, quite a few residents have P.O. boxes. Below is a link to the Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners' Association's (HPPOA) website, which might prove somewhat helpful....
Aloha and Welcome to Hawaiian Paradise Park!

Just moved to Hilo
Hi Hilobound. I just moved to Hilo and live in HPP. I noticed that you posted a question about shipping your car that no one else answered (unless I missed the post). We just shipped our Jeep with Pasha and they have one price regardless of passenger vehicle size. It was $1080 from the port in San Diego to the port in Hilo. If you are shipping from outside of California it will cost you more as you will need to pay a transport company to get your vehicle to California. We actually lived in Arizona prior to our move and found it was cheaper to drive the car to San Diego and then fly back one way ($60 in gas, $89 flight) than the quotes we got from shippers.

Additional note - mailboxes
It is true there are cluster mailboxes in HPP, but our experience has been (according to the post office) that there is over one year wait on a box within HPP or at the post office. We were given the option of general delivery (which means the post office will hold your mail until you come in). We opted for a PO box in Hilo where we originally shipped and stored our belongings. It is a little less convenient, but we manage to get into town a few days a week and just pick up our mail on those days.

Flights
Actually we flew on Hawaiian from Phoenix for around $326 each one way. This week I see there are some flights in mid-November for about $201 one way. When we were booking Phoenix was slightly cheaper than San Diego or LA and the flights are nonstop to Honolulu which you need to stop in anyway for animal quarantine and then you fly to Hilo about 3 hours later. They will only book 2 dogs from mainland to HNL and then only one from HNL to neighbor islands, so you want to be sure that you book your dog(s) right away. Even with all of our pre-planning that part of the entire move was the most chaotic. I ended up flying 2 hours after my family just so our dog could be taken to Hilo and when I booked my flight I didn;t realize that there was a pet embargo in Arizona and Las Vegas for the summer months (the last week of September!) and ended up sending my dog on a flight on another airline. We flew PHX to HNL to ITO. He flew PHX to ATL to HNL to ITO . The benefit in the whole thing was that the airline he did travel on has air conditioned pet areas, so he did not get heat distressed.

Well we just booked our flight out of san diego for 480 and our dog for 225 for the first week in january. WE are going to go with pasha to ship our vehicle i just hope gas keeps going down because my truck only gets 12 miles to the gallon and we are coming from tennessee. WE hope our dog doesnt have problems like yours did. We fly to HNL then to ITO about a six hour flight all together. Thanks for the information and anymore you have about your move would be greatly appreciated.
