Default Advise for the new gal on the Island...

Aloha Kakou

I will be moving to the Big Island in 4 short months and would like some advise, direction and/or comments about volunteering, social functions, church, etc... I am eager to jump in, do my part and meet the wonderful people of the Isalnd. I have not made a decision on the Kona or Hilo side, so comments from everyone would be appreciated.

Anyone who has moved to the Islands from the Mainland - your input on adjusting to island living and how you met people would be greatly appreciated.....

For the locals, if I may ask, what are some important things for a newcomer to do for both the community as well as for the island? I plan on doing my part and then some..

Mahalo for you time!!!

Welcome to the Big Island!

If you have a choice between Hilo/Kona, be sure to do your research on the Vog. We get it here in Hilo randomly...nothing like the almost constant impact it is having in Kona.

Explore Hamakua coast, Waimea, Hilo, Puna...each has different pros and cons...

What are some of your interests/a bit about your background? A couple of details may help those of us who live here give you some ideas!
