the best thing i have done is add a small $5 computer fan to my closet, this keeps the air moving enough, is quiet, and eliminates mold.

Ventilation gets rid of mold. Put a screened louver in the bottom of the closet (if your house is up on post and pier) put in louvered closet doors and if you can, a vent at the top to vent to the attic, if you have one.

A lot of the newer houses have that Tyvek house wrap put on them, I'm sure that is going to really create a mold problem when the house can't breathe properly, but proposing having the wind blow through the walls of the house (at least in specific areas) usually isn't well received by many folks building new houses.

Nice idea!

Back here, I made a passive solar heater and installed in my South-facing garage window with that in mind. I then used a computer fan in it and one of those $20 solar battery chargers which put out 12VDC. The fan then only ran when the sun was out which was perfect since the unit only made heat when the sun was out. Helped raise my garage temp above freezing even in below zero days, for free.
