I'm so sorry about Obama's grandmother passing away literally one day before the election. so nice of him to be able to go home for one last visit, shows where his values are.

But just one thing puzzles me, we haven't heard anything about her passing since the election? Was there a funeral, memorial service, something? Why didn't we hear all about Obama attending that?

It has been reported that the Obamas will come to Hawaii in December, and it is presumed that they will have a service then. Link to Honolulu Star-Bulletin story: Obama plans Hawaii visit next month - Bulletin - Starbulletin.com

The day after her death was announced, U.S. Representative Neil Abercombie said, "it was Dunham's wish that there be no elaborate service. A small, private service will be held. The family requested that instead of flowers, people may make a donation to "any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer." Just was wondering...I'm so sorry for her she didn't get to see her grandson achieve his goal, but I'm sure she's watching from somewhere and kuddos to him for making that last trip home!

Default Quick Update

There's a public memorial service scheduled for tomorrow in Honolulu for Madelyn Duham. This is not the family's private memorial that will likely not be held until next month when the Obama family can attend. In the interim, the extended family has consented to a public service for the community at large. Dunham service set for tomorrow - News - Starbulletin.com

Apparently it is just a public memorial service for her in Punchbowl. That is a military only memorial park, isn't it?

I think Mr. Dunham is buried at Punchbowl, and that's the connection.

Default the real reason ...

Yes, this is a military only memorial park. She was interned there. So is her husband buried there. Barack Obama's grandfather is a veteran of World War 2. As his wife, Barack's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham was buried in Punchbowl Cematary.

What a wonderful woman! It was her self sacrifice that put Barack through school here. Her Aloha Spirit lives on!

And, of course, she saw him win. Did you ever think she might have had to pass over to be able to see him win?

We are all connected spiritually!

May you come to find Aloha ... for the Aloha Spirit now lives in the White House. Aloha ... the true meaning is giving someone your love from the root (Alo) of your being through the breath (Ha) of life.

Aloha no kakou ~ May love surround you! ~S~
