Default Prohibited pet

I have a question. I am planning on possibly moving out to Hawaii and have a 2 year old cat. He is my baby. I got him from an animal rescue and they said he may be a bengal but they aren't sure since he was a stray. I know that Bengals aren't allowed in Hawaii, but since I don't have any paper work proving if he is or isn't, is there any way the quarantine people would be able to tell one way or the other? I'm just really scared that if I do end up moving out there, they'd end up destroying him or something because he may be a Bengal.

Well, go ask a vet what he is and get them to write up a description and sign it, then you'd have paperwork stating what he is. If he is a Bengal, then find him a new home so he can stay on the mainland and get a new cat here. There was someone who tried to bring a Bengal into Hawaii a year or so ago and got denied so now the quarantine people are alerted to Bengals and will be looking for them so it would be best to get a vet to determine what he is before going any further.

There is a breeder of Bengal cats here on Maui, I was actually thinking of getting one, but realized that the already totally wacked out "Stray" whatevehas local Maui kitten/cat that had decided to move in to my place and be harassed on a fairly continual basis by the current feline occupants of my home stood a better chance of survival. Best of luck, might want to call a local vet about bringing the cat over, although I doubt if it would be a problem. Snakes are a different deal altogether.....

Aloha
