Yuck it has been raining since I woke up this morning. It isn't really that bad, since I ran errands and that spend the past few hours in bed, watching TV. Now I'm going to bake cookies and relax...

Hopefully the rain isn't as bad as it was in 2006- that was a really bad year for Kauai!

It was raining like lolo here in Kihei just about 4 hours ago, absolutlely torrential downpour, never seen anything quite like it, in all my 33 years here, almost drowned my rubber ducky!!!!!!! Wait a sec, I was in the shower, never mind............ I doubt if Mqui........Where the heck is Mqui anyhow???????? I mean Maui, will get much of it,,,,,,,(probably time to break out the sandbags after typing that....) We did have that storm in 1980, mainly Maui county, never forcasted, think this was before Doppler radar, rained like crazy here on Maui, road to Kahalui was closed, the Pali shut down due to rock slides, and the power was out here in Kihei for three or four days, Mayor Tavares referred to it as the worst thing to hit the Islands since the attack on Pearl Harbor.....I have never seen a storm quite like that one since

Aloha, not a drop of rain yet

rain rain rain rain.... the Wailua river is pretty high (I can't imagine how high it must have been with all that rain in 2006). The ocean on the east side is brown, but amazingly flat. weird. cold. damp. dank. wet. bone-chilling. (OK, 3 months of island life has made me a wimp when it comes to cold!)

I know, it's 20 degrees in NY. But I was SO cold sitting at the airport last night at 10:30, waiting for my ride, I couldn't believe I was in Hawaii. Right now I'm going to curl up in bed with covers, tea, and a good book, and let the day go by. :-)

Yes, it is freezing. I have hot chocolate in hand while wearing socks. It's a nice day to stay home and watch cartoons (some football too) with my daughter. I ain't going anywhere soon. My rain gauge shows almost 1.5 inches since 10 p.m. last night...hardly impressive. Maybe the heavy stuff comes later during the game tonight...Stay tuned
