Default Baby due in April, what is the best hospital for me to give birth in Honolulu?

Hi, I am moving to Honolulu in March, I am due to give birth in April. I want to know if anyone has info on the most inexpensive route to go in Honolulu. I would prefer a hospital, and wondering which ones might be cheaper if any. Also am wondering of any alternative routes that might be cheaper like a midwifery or anything like that?? Also has anyone given birth in Hawaii, and if so just for the labor part, how much did that cost you at the hospital or wherever you gave birth at? Thanks so much!!

from what i hear...queens hospital is the best in hawaii...they have a whole wing set up just for women giving birth....the wing was a dream for a royal hawaiian decendent (can't remember which one) who set it up ..

Default thanks for the advice

Ya, I actually went online, and checked out the yellow pages for hospitals and midwiferies and have e-mailed everyone. Quenns hospital is the only one that has sent a reply, it stated that it costs about 9,000 (not including physicians bill). I bet a midwife or home birth would be less expensive but I dont know if I dare to have a baby at home... we'll see. Thanks for the info

Default Investigate

You should watch the movie just released The Business of Being Born. Its on netflix now. Then if you are interested in midwives there are four on the island: Lori Kiamata. Miriam Abrim. Medra? Madeline Portuondo. Always best to investigate. Castle is the smallest and calmest on Kanehoe. In town i think Queens. Hope that helps.

Kapiolani is rated the best. I gave birth there and it was a wonderful set-up. All private rooms. I was also told by my OB that Kapiolani is hands down the best in case any unexpectant emergencies occur during birth. Also, assuming you have medical insurance, it won't be too expensive. I can't remember the details, but it was definitely affordable.
