Thursday's Honolulu Star- Bulletin carried an excellent article by Leroy Laney, who is among other things,a prof at Hawaii Pacific . I'd post a link to it if I knew how. Anyone contemplating a move right now should do themselves a favor and google it. "The more you know..." This recession is deep and worldwide and Paradise is not immune.

Rough year ahead? Rough year already! The outer islands always feel downward trends before Oahu does and we've been hit hard this year.

If you need employment to move to Hawaii, then get round trip tickets just in case you don't find anything that pays enough to survive on.

i see too many people that show up here from hawaii with many problems.
i dont think hawaii suffers so much from economic trouble but from social issues.
really strange ---natural beauty does not seem to be a cureall.

Natural beauty with no income is even more hampered to being a cureall.

True, the islands do seem to magnify some issues somehow, don't they?
