The most hospitals and clinics are in the areas of greater population so the most choices would be on Oahu. Then probably Maui, Kauai, Big Island, Molokai and then Lanai. Finding the job will be the hardest part so choose where to live after finding employment.

If it were me, I'd pack my stuff up but leave it on the mainland until I knew where I'd be living. Get a weekly or monthly rental on the island of my first choice and then look for work. If a job was found, then I'd look for an apartment or other rental and ship over the necessary boxes. If the boxes were numbered, I could request them to be shipped by number from my friends or relatives that I left them with. After working for a year, then I'd look around for a house to buy if I was planning on buying one. But, this is just how I'd do it.

If I already had a job on the mainland, I'd take a sabbatical and not quit the job until I knew I had another one.
