Show us "real-life" pics of Hawaii, Maui
Aloha!
I am looking to move back to Hawaii for the 3rd time, and would LOVE some real photos of Maui , I'm sure others would like some of the other islands too. I would like to see a pic of the roads, towns, people, general pics of what "non-vacationers" do every day. I lived on Oahu, and was amazed on how some of the places or things I saw daily were never shown on brochures or magazines. I know Hawaii is beautiful, but I don't need to see any more pics of beaches, resorts, or tourist attractions.
I am just trying to get a good feel of what Maui really looks like from a locals point of view, as I did not spend much time there, I was too busy drinking mai tai's in Lahaina.....
Mahalo!

Isn't that's what the "Hawaii Picture Thread" sticky at the top of the list is for?

I think that all of the pics in that thread are vacation and "ideal life" pics, not real life styled pics.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I was just thinking we don't need another thread to post pictures in when scirocco22 was kind enough to set up that sticky for us.
I apologize if I ruffled any feathers.

I don't think so. I just went back to that thread and counted.
I posted 58 of the photos in that thread. I took every one of them with my hand held "El-Cheapo" digital camera, walking around Oahu and Kauai. Lots of them are of my back yard. I don't think they count as "vacation", 'cause I live here half-time. If they look like "ideal-life" things, I can't help that.
I just returned to Kailua from San Diego, and I have a new digital camera that I treated myself to when Fry's had a big sale the day after Christmas (10 megapixels for $150 ....... Who-Hooo!). I'll go to downtown Kailua in the next few days and try it out. Don't blame me if the folks in Kailua look like they're having an ideal life. Maybe they are! :-)

Thank You! What I meant was pictures of your neighborhoods and streets, not beautiful flowers and sunsets. Like I said, I've lived there before. I just want to see the area that I will be hanging out in. I'm not trying to see if the streets are dirty. I happen to love old time hawaiian homes and chickens running around, etc. would love to see pics of that stuff!!

I spent a half hour in downtown Kailua this morning. Below is the result. I just held my camera at belt level and walked around, snapping. Only ran into one problem: Times Supermarket. The first person I snapped in there was Security, who said "You can't take pictures here."
So I went to Don Quijote.
A couple of times the camera didn't shoot until after I quit pointing it at the subject, so you have some nice pictures of my feet:

When someone asks for something you do deliver the goods, don't you? Great job.
