Default moving to hawaii

planning to move to hawaii, currently saving up money to do so. Just wandering if anyone can offer any info or know a good place to find it. I am nurse and my husband is a plumber so hoping finding a job wont be too difficult, actually just starting the process. We are also still deciding on which island would be the best. Leaning toward kauai but anything you can offer would be great.

There's a ton of information posted here that will be useful: threads about moving, nursing jobs, plumbing jobs, how the islands are similar/different. You might want to start by using the "Search" feature at the top of the page, enter you keywords and select "Show Threads" or "Show Posts." You'll have plenty to read then you can ask more specific questions and get clearer answers.

Pay attention to the dates of the posts, though, as the economy here has declined considerably in the past year. Posts that mention lots of construction jobs, etc. are likely over a year old and do not reflect the current job market.

There's also an old book called "So You Want to Live in Hawaii." It's out-of-date, but has some really useful insights into the pros and cons of moving here and how things are different from the mainland. I'd also strongly recommend that you visit any island you're thinking of moving to. Your post doesn't mention whether you've been here. Many people get the idea to move to paradise before they visit to see what it's really like. I think the most successful moves are those that come after multiple or lengthy stays in the community you think you'll want to live in. Just MHO.

Best of luck.

Can you take an extended vacation and look for work? Then if you find a job, have folks send some of your stuff over from the mainland? Also, if things don't work out, you will be able to continue working where you already are? Jobs are pretty precious these days, if you have one hang onto it!
