Default Job offer in Lahaina - front street where to live

Hi.
I have a job offer on front street in Lahaina. I am 26 single, female, no kids. I am scared of the cost of living, can I rent for less than $1,000?
Thanks!

You can get a room in a house, but probably not an apartment or ohana (like an attached or detached "mother-in-law" suite) to yourself. Housing is fairly fluid over here. If you can afford it, I'd rent a vacation-type condo for a week or two and look for a permanent place after you get here. I can't stress firmly enough how little you can tell about a property, the neighborhood, or the people you might be sharing with until you get a sense of the place in person.

Craigslist is a great start to get a sense of pricing, amenties, etc., but I wouldn't rent anything until you're sure it's "safe." That's just my opinion, though. There is a fair amount of housing on/around Front Street. And still more in walking/biking distance, depending up on where you're going to be working.

Best of luck.

Best of luck.
