Strangely enough, milk has been pretty cheap recently at the Safeway. $3.99/gal without the usual buy buy one get one free @ $7 requirement. Must be the lower price of gas. I freeze the milk in water/vitaminwater bottles. It's great cuz I can't get thru a gallon by myself without it going bad and the milk is totally indistinguishable from fresh when defrosted in the fridge. When gas was over $4.50/gallon, the milk was $7.99/gallon. Never saw over $10. Really, you gotta be a smart shopper here. Pork butt for kalua/pulled pork is a steal at $1.99/lb at the Cost-U-Less, but if you have a hankering for an artichoke, it can cost $6 for a single artichoke!!! I always tell this story about wanting tomato juice then finding it was $4.69 for that can that was $1.19 in Texas/Cali. I decided to get the V-8 that was on sale for $2.99 instead. You gotta adapt. Make lemonade with my own lemons rather than buying OJ. Whateva - it's all vitamin C...

Thank God for the Commissary! The prices by far beat the stores (including Costco) for the items we routinely buy. I knew there was a reason my husband stayed in almost 23 years!

We have Retired here and really had not considered Retiring anywhere else! Hawaii No Ka Oi.

In Maryland the Kirkland Organic Milk at Costco is $8.99 for a box of three 1/2 gallon cartons.
