We ended up getting 3 inches of very wet snow. At least it didn't stay on the roads, but it sure covered everything else. It actually melted off by late Monday. However, tonight (Tuesday) it is to get down to 25 degrees again!
Where is Spring?

I think spring is sprung. We've had nothing but unending rain for what seems like six weeks already. Even the guinea grass has been slowed down from lack of sunshine. It has been nice since all the trees which were planted two months ago haven't had to get watered but I'd go out and water the new trees if it meant there was sunshine out there, too.

Whats wrong with cold weather. every season is nice well except for spring to much rain and i say that while living in hilo. its really something waking up in a cabin in the mountains drinking hot chocolate or coffee next to the fire place watching it snow from your window while reading a book. to much sun can be very depressing as is the other way around. but the big island has cold warm hot and rainy everyday. its really great i just wish i had a job lol

mauna loa gets snow, too. today both mauna kea and mauna loa are predicted to get around 2-3 inches. hualalai has been photographed with snow and doesn't haleakala get snow?

we live at app. the 2500 ft. level in fern forest and it's chilly and raining. been steadily in the 50's in the morning.

Snow up on top of a mountain is where snow belongs.

One year, we were on the Big Island in February and drove up to the peak of Mauna Kea where we saw a pickup truck with 3 locals in it stop, jump out and beging filling the bed of the truck with snow. We asked what they were doing.

They said they were going to drive back down to the beach and have snowball fights! Now, that is how I like to see snow being put to a proper use!

You have to admit, at least they were putting that normally worthless snow to good use.
