Default I used to live in Hawaii

I used to live in Hawaii and recently, but not for the first time, began to miss it. I used to live near Schofield Barracks where I'd wake up and watch my father along with other soldiers go on a morning run around 8 or so.

but just a few questions, and i don't expect that many would know this, but does anyone know if the Commissary and PX are still in existence near McCormack road (i think it's McCormack)? I used to live on Paul Revere Ct. and would walk down Ayers or McCormack to the Burger King or Popeye's Chicken. I would go bowling on Saturdays too somewhere near there.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if these places are still up because I'd like to visit Hawaii once again and possibly stay for a while. I just really need to revisit my childhood is all.

thanks if you have any info.
and lucky you if you still live there!
i miss it!

Yes, there is still a PX & Commissary on these sites; however they have been renovated (brand new PX Complex & newer Comm) so they would be unrecognizable to you though they are in the same locations).

There is still the bowling alley & theater and most of the quarters are new & newer so it really depends when you were here last. Most of Wheeler is the same.

Both Schofield & Wheeler retain much of the same beauty and charm but many of the non-historical sites have disappeared.

The old Officer Qtrs (near Qtrs #1) and Sr. NCO Qtrs are still intact. Take a look at the Schofield Bks web site since it may give you a better idea of what is still around from your childhood.
