Master's student moving to Hawaii- what's the best timing? (to rent, live)

I'm looking to rent, but not sure how the student housing market is around Manoa. Does it all fill up the first week of August or can I wait till the middle of August?

How competitive is the market during that time period? Do the prices get higher during that time?

Also, anybody know what majority of grad students live on campus versus off campus?

Sorry I can't help with the first two questions, but I do know that most grad students in my dept live off campus. I suggest you ask the department to set you up with a current grad student who can answer your questions. We do that automatically for all of our incoming students, and I think it's a big help.
