Kauai in Winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure it'll be cold and rainy!!!!!!! (Waimea: live, swimming)

just kidding, i'm pretty sure it'll be nice.....but i've been reading alot about rain during the winter (Nov.) months.....
we're going there in Nov. and wondering which area you'd recommend.....

I know Poipu is the sunniest in November....but Hannalie Bay looks so much prettier! am i wrong?

we're trying to find blue water with white sand and as little rock IN the water as possible.

please help :-)

Hanalei is a bay which has good summer anchoring spots for sailboats but is closed out due to the possibility of high surf conditions in the winter. You blue water may be quite wiggly there at that time.

It rains on the average of 4-6 inches in the winter on Kauai. If you are closer to the North Shore or the center of the island, you'll see a lot more. Kauai Weather That being said, Mount Waiʻaleʻale averages 426 inches of rain a year - and the record year for rain up there was in 1982 - with 683 inches. The neat thing about the islands is that it's warm when it rains. If you were born and raised on the mainland, you might associate rain with cold. Not so in Hawaii. Wear clothing that will dry out quickly (in other words, don't pack your good suit - unless it's a bathing suit...) And you'll love it.

Its really hit or miss. I live on the south side of the island but often go to the north shore to go diving. Sometimes it would be cloudy/rainy up there, but sunny in Poipu. Sometimes it would be sunny in both areas, but rarely is it sunny in Hanalei and rainy in Poipu during the winter months. The ocean conditions can really affect the North shore that time of year and often there are high surf watches preventing you from swimming.

While I often complain of the cold and rain in the winter, tourists rarely do. This winter was unusually chilly, but depending on where you live, you will probably think its warm (during the day, it does get chilly at night so bring a sweater/jacket!).

Honestly though, the rainy seasons are better b/c there are more waterfalls!
