Red face aloha from volcano

Aloha from da big island where I wish I was now. Am there only in spirit. But will be back there soon.

Am feeling homesick for my little place in the rain forest.

I read lailaniguy's posts about Puna -- the volcano sort of straddles Kau and Puna -- I live on the Puna side, which if you are familiar, you would know from the rain forest part.

Incredible birds, whacky lava tubes, ferns as tall as houses. Curve beaked little honey creepers and funny cardinals. They make a distinct clicking sort of chirp, and like to see their reflections.

The weather is cool -- nevr too hot, rarely cold enough for a jacket, although sometimes right near the crater is very chilly.

Fabulous neighbors - people from all over the globe who gravitate to places like this, places where the earth is new and still becoming. so full of life.

Aloha Islandgrrrrl. Thanks so much for your beautiful description. From another island gurl, I too yearn to go back and am going in May. I know Hercules, CA too having lived in the Bay Area for 30 years. Time to get back home now. Aloha nui aloha...Kealohamakua
