Default Moving to Maui or Kauai?

Hello,

I've accepted a job on the island of Kauai working for the State. Then I received another phone call for a job offer on Maui. I've already done a ton of research on Kauai, but nothing on Maui. Can anyone tell me what the differences would be living on Maui as oppose to Kauai? (Weather, too many tourists, crime, entertainment, etc.) Thanks

If you want more peace and quiet stick with Kauai. But its just in degrees of difference. Maui has more tourists on it more nightlife but its still a quiet place compared to Oahu.

Both islands have their own uniqueness and beauty. Maui is a more active lifestyle than Kauai, which includes more variety in shopping, restaurants, etc. Maui is more populated than Kauai. Kauai is still in many ways more remote. Sometimes you can feel you are lost in the 60's on Kauai.

Good Morning and Aloha! Not sure how to use this forum, but I'm trying to get info on moving to Kaua'i this fall. I currently live on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, so I have 12 years of island living experience. However, this place is getting severely over-developed and I'm looking for a slower, quieter place. Don't need fancy, big or high-maintenance. Studio with electricity and indoor plumbing is good! Any type of work - currently work in an auto parts store (shipping clerk) and drive an '86 Suzuki Samarai! Any help would be appreciated - and please let me know if I've not used this forum correctly! Thanks! Mahalo!

If you want specific question(s) answered, you should START A NEW THREAD. Otherwise, use SEARCH function i.e. "Kauai" and you should find quite a bit of information.

Kauai is a beautiful island which is slow paced and quiet. It probably would suit you well. Biggest issue would be employment. Good luck! Aloha!
