Hawaii
Hey everyone!
WE've been seriously considering moving to Honolulu, Hawaii. Our main concern is that we live within walking distance from the beach.
More importantly, however, we want the beach to be "shark-free"!
What cities would you recommend (where house prices are reasonable 200,000-300,000 and where there are opportunities for business)??
Also, what's your experience with sharks in the beaches there? how's the water? weather?
Any and all information is greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

Explain what you call a beach and what do you mean by walking distance.
"Shark Free"?? There's a nice video of a shark swimming by a surfer and attacking a school of fish on one of the local Hawaii TV station website, think that happened yesterday.
Hawaii is not similar to most other areas so more details about your expectations will help. Also have you been to Hawaii before?

That's a poor way to decide where to move.
Sharks are in every ocean,worldwide.
There are virtually zero houses to buy on Oahu in that price range. Maybe some small condos.

There is only one city in the entire state of Hawaii and that would be Honolulu. Everything else is a town, hamlet, village, etc.

There is no such thing as shark free.....you stand a much better chance dieing in a car accident then getting killed by a shark.

For what it's worth, I can't recall the last time I saw a shark on the beach. Generally, they stick to the water.
Seriously, though, all warm waters have an abundance of sharks -- it's just a fact of nature. Generally, most of the sharks you encounter near shore in HI are harmless reef sharks... but every now and then a potentially-dangerous Tiger wanders in close to shore. But if you're so scared of sharks that it's going to impact your psychological well-being, you can buy yourself a Shark Shield for about $600.

The sharks on the beach would be the ones wearing gold chains and wide lapels? Naw, that would have gone out with disco.
I suppose Ala Moana beach park wouldn't be likely to have sharks since they have the reef outside the swimming area. And there's tons of places to live near there, too. And it is in a city, so it's all good.
