Round trip tickets are frequently cheaper than one way tickets, believe it or not. Considering it doesn't cost anything, it is good insurance - just in case. Sometimes there is a lot of stuff you don't know you need to know before starting a new venture. Moving to Hawaii is frequently that sort of new venture. The return ticket is sort of the "reset" button in case you need a start over.
