Question Can I move to Hawaii?

So I have been offered a job near Fort Shafter. I have been living overseas (South Korea) for almost 10 years so I'm completely out of touch with the states. Before I make my final decision I'm looking for some advice. Specifically I would like to know if my salary is in a range that can live decently in the area around Fort Shafter. I have my wife ( Korean and most likely wouldn't work for at least the first year) and my small dog. No kids.

Salary: $70K /yr

Housing: Looking for a 3 bedroom decent house/apartment. This is based on my idea of Korean housing however. I need a room for my computers, a 'storage' room for all our clothes and other stuff and a room to sleep in.

Internet: How fast are internet connections? I know I won't get anything close to the 100mbps I get here, but what is considered "fast" and how reliable is it?

Korean stuff: Since my wife is Korean it would be nice if she had access to somethings to make her feel comfortable. Are there any Korean tv stations? Korean resturants / food?

Thanks for any advice.

There are many many Korean restaurants here. We don't have a shortage of Korean businesses. There is also a whole channel on local television devoted to Korean dramas, music programs, and news. There are many Koreans here. Both American born Korean Americans and Koreans from Korea.

We get our high speed internet service through Oceanic Road Runner. At our home, we have high speed internet through the cable that brings cable TV to the home. It works well for us. We haven't had any problems.

I think it's possible to for 2 people to live on a $70k salary in the Fort Shafter area. You'll be looking at homes in Moanalua, Aiea, Salt Lake, or Pearl City, I presume. Ewa, Kapolei, and and Mililani are other options but the commute is going to be much longer from those three areas if you're commuting during the typical morning and late afternoon rush hours.
