Having moved to Maui after living in the DC area, it appears to me that Maui isn't a great place to find temp work through an agency. Temp agencies presume a large supply of both jobs and workers -- Maui is very small, with offices concentrated in only a few towns. Most jobs seem to be found through old-fashioned networking unless you have very specific or stellar skills.

Most people who arrive without jobs take whatever they can get, then move on as they meet people and assess what's available (and where). There are many more applicants than jobs available right now, so employers don't need to pay agency fees to fill positions, whether temporary or permanent.

There are always exceptions in medical fields, but hospitals, clinics, etc. tend to work with specialized staffing agencies for jobs in those specialities.

Best of luck.

No one I know has used a temp agency to hire workers on Maui, for office or labor work. Apply directly to the company, read the Bulletin, look online.
