Here is a link to a slide show of photos of Waimea (on the Big Island) that I took a few weeks ago. Not edited...just posted to give those who have never been there a sense of the place! Note how it changes from green to "dry"....at about 2000ft you start to see the change as you drive toward town.
These uploaded in reverse order, so the "Welcome to Waimea" sign is the last thing you see! Photos are from the street, mostly. Except for a couple from Waimea Coffee Company and the new Outdoor Circle park that the community is working to create....

Thanks for posting . I was in Waimea last month, my third visit so I have a pretty good idea of the layout.
My concern is how cold it gets as you start to get into higher elevations.
If it gets down to 50 I would really want a fireplce or something similar.
It is 50 degrees outside right now here in NY and IT STINKS.
