Default Hawaii Picture Thread ...post pictures only

.................................................. ...........................................

Quote:
Photo posters:

Post your photos of Hawai‘i on this thread.

Ideally, host them elsewhere and use the "image" feature when posting. If you don't have a hosting site, I have a couple excellent free ones anybody can use.

Please post photos only. Include a brief descripton of where and when they were taken.

Personal photos only please. No copyrighted material.

Again, Photos only. Thanks.

Ask if you have any questions.

Default What is a taro field?

Someone here, or in a direct response to me asked "What is a taro field?"

Taro (Kalo) is and was a staple of the Hawaiian diet. It is the basis for poi. Here is a discussion from Wikipedia:

Taro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Taro fields were the mainstay of a Hawaiian village, and are part of the Hawaiian culture. Their restoration is important in the preservation of the Hawaiian tradition. Here is and example of current thinking:

Looks like this thread is no longer "sticky", so if no one posts more photos, it will pretty well disappear.

Exactly, Hank. I'm trying to figure out a way to do this without irritating the management of this site. They seem not to want to make things sticky and they unstuck our Picture Thread.

I'll keep trying for a resolution but in the meantime, you're right, keep posting pictures to keep this thread from disappearing down the list!
